Learn To Ice Skate For Kids: Basic Jumping – Part 5 (Sheila Thelen)

This is the fifth and final video of Sheila Thelen teaching a young skater in a private lesson.  Sheila’s skater is a 6 year old boy named Milan.  Make sure you watch the other videos in this series.

In this short video, Sheila is working with Milan on his salchow.  This is just before the end of the lesson and Milan isn’t paying attention anymore.  But I wanted to include this video in the series so you can see how Sheila introduces the salchow (at the wall).  She also provides a clever methods to help Milan remember what foot to start on, but it only works on skaters wearing pants.

I love this because it is so helpful to actually see how a little skater responds. It is so funny and typical. Love how he just skates off at the end. Yeah I did it once that’s enough, so cute and Sheila is so funny also, great mix of enthusiasm and patience.

LOL! This was so cute! I like the cold leg idea. I am always trying to find ways to get the kids to tell their left foot from their right foot! Thanks for all your input Sheila!
