Audrey Weisiger continues with the third stroking exercise intended to help her skaters with their posture, alignment and control. The first stroking exercise used simple mohawks and steps to change from forward to backward and vice versa and the second stroking exercise employed a forward inside three turn.
The third exercise in the series is intended to help the skater fully utilize both pushes in the forward crossover. Audrey uses a double push to the outer side and a double push on the undercut for each “cross-over.” It can be very challenging for young developing skaters to make a second push on the undercut, but Audrey demonstrates what she wants for maximum skill development. This drill is fantastic for eliminating the incorrect toe push that is so common in crossovers at the lower levels.
Again, as in the earlier exercises, the head remains still and facing the direction of travel.
