Audrey Weisiger shares 10 important reasons why people do not attain a goal. This is a great list for everyone, but it is particularly valuable to skaters and coaches as figure skating participants are more likely to have well-defined goals than those in the general non-skating population.
Audrey’s list is based loosely on information from a book by Larry Winget. (Editor – Although Audrey does not mention the book title, I believe the book is “Shut Up, Stop, Whining, and Get a Life: A Kick-Butt Approach to a Better Life.”)
Here is the list. Watch the video for a full explanation.
Reasons Why People Do Not Attain A Goal
1. Lack of information or knowledge
2. Unable to apply information or knowledge
3. Unmotivated to apply information
4. Unaware of the consequences of not applying information
5. Lack of vision
6. Low expectations for themselves
7. Poor role models
8. Bad habits
9. Poor planning
10. Just do not care
This presentation was part of a class at the 2010 G2C Extreme Summer Camp. The class was called Audrey’s Ambassadors and was a result of Audrey’s experience with young skaters at international competitions. Audrey feels that many young skaters are not prepared to make a good impression at these events without additional non-skating training. A big part of the class was on manners and dining etiquette. This explains Audrey’s references in this video to chopsticks and table manners.
