Figure Skating Training Tools: Champion Cords Aids Crossovers (Sheila Thelen)

Sheila Thelen explains several ways to use Champion Cords to improve crossovers.  Sheila shows how to use the cords to address proper shoulder and arm position as well as movement of the undercut foot.

When using Champion cords for arm and shoulder position in forward crossovers, make sure to try both in front of the body and behind the body for different awareness and stretching.  Sheila explains how to create a second loop so the cord can be looped through both hands easily. To extend the lift the undercut portion of the crossover, Sheila offers a nifty trick.  This will feel uncomfortable for many skaters at first having the cord on opposite hand and foot and behind their back.  But it works to develop the correct feeling.

Sheila offers yet another bonus tip on how to “shorten” the Champion Cord to create more tension. Please leave Sheila a comment.
