Off Ice Jump Training: Axel And Double Axel Drills (Tom Hickey)

Tom Hickey describes and Taylor demonstrates off-ice jump drills that build to axel and double axel – Part 2.  The drills focus on rhythm and balance development.  Tom argues that a skater should be comfortable doing the axel and double axel on the floor before trying it on the ice.  Tons of great information in this 6 minute video!

like the tap toe tap toe drill better than the grape vine as it is less likely to a sharp left bshoulder lead

Tom: Very creative and a totally solid progression. I use these similarly on the ice building onto 3 turn magic! This looks good for enhancing agility as well.

I never quite connected the idea of the grapevine and the axel before.
