Trevor Laak teaches Viktors Ayele how to use the pole harness. At the time these videos were recorded, Viktors had no experience with the pole harness so this series begins with the most basic fundamentals. The camera was operated by Sheila Thelen (thanks Sheila!). If you’re interested in the pole harness and how to use it, you’re unlikely to find more comprehensive information about it anywhere without speaking directly with a pole harness expert. There is some coaching information in these videos but the main focus of these videos is developing Viktors’ pole harness skills. Please let me know if you find this useful.

This is very helpful Trevor. I would love to see the other videos in the series. Thanks so much!
Very useful, just what I was looking for. Thank you!
Thank you! This was great! I’m considering purchasing one but was hesitant because of never having used one. This was helpful to see you walk a new user through the process of using one right from the start. I don’t often see women using them. I can think of an obvious reason why that might be the case but it certainly doesn’t seem like anything I couldn’t handle. I’m curious if you think it takes a certain amount of extra strength to manage.
Karen, I know many women coaches who use the pole harness including at least one who is doing double axels and triple salchows at full speed. It does take some strength and a little bit of extra height is also helpful, but I believe most average size coaches can use the pole.
