Tricia Offerdahl continues her development of Leah’s program. This is Part 2 in a multi-part series. In this video, you’ll see Trish choose the skater’s first spin, and create the connecting moves, including arms. Observe how she regularly asks for input from the skater. Also notice how patient she is about her skater’s arms and how she persistently provides more and more detailed explanations as required when the skater doesn’t get something.
(I kept the lengthy section on fixing Leah’s arms because it provides useful insights into how to reach a skater that doesn’t understand. We all learn differently and Trish is discovering how Leah learns through this process. Notice that Trish shows her, explains to her in detail, physically touches and moves her, and finally shows her again. -Trevor)
See how Trish focuses on important musical cues, and how she changes her skater’s level with a lunge, which is a simple and effective method of powerfully interacting with the music.
