Nick Perna finishes his lesson with Isabelle. This is the final part of a 5 part series (see Part 1, Part 2,Part 3, and Part 4). In this part of the lesson, Nick puts Isabelle in the pole harness for triple loop. If you’re interested in pole harness technique, watch the video carefully as Nick is a master with the pole harness. In fact, it’s what he’s most famous for. He’s had some of the biggest names in our sport on his pole harness.
With a new skater that Nick has not worked with before, notice that he has the skater do a single on the pole to get the skater’s rhythm. Nick mentions that he does not generally do doubles on the pole for skaters working triples because they have a tendency to over-rotate the double, even without any help. Notice also that Nick goes back to the arching issue he noticed right away in the very first part of the lesson. He gives us a thorough explanation for why the arching issue should be addressed. And Nick make a great point that all good jumps have a slight inclination forward in the air (with respect to landing). Thanks Nick for letting us sit in on this great lesson.
